On Friday the 2nd some members of the Knox and Ringwood congregations all traveled to Anglesea where we have a Lutheran camp. At Araluen with us we had a band called Ignate. On the first night we all got settled in and then had a talk about who we are. We played some name games and at the end had a sing along.
The next morning we started the day with breaky - pork rind and un-born chickens (bacon and eggs) . As we finished breaky we sang songs and broke up in to little groups for some discussions. After that the youth were off to work on drama and puppets with Ignate, while the adults had another discussion.
While the youth were out they made a brilliant drama about Psalm 119. When we finished working on our drama we went inside to see the adults, but they were still talking so we went out and played games like wink murder and a weird game where we made sounds that were quite strange. When the adults finished, we went in and ate lunch.
When lunch had finished Ignate had to leave. After a while we decided to go to the beach!! At the beach some went for a swim, some went to the rock pools, and some just sat in the sun soaking in the heat. When everyone came back we buried Alex in the sand and made him a mermaid - what a very beautiful mermaid he was. Then Nick was the next victim - he ended up being very short. Once everyone was getting a bit tired, we went back to camp.
That night Fin taught some adults and some youth how to play 'Up and down the river'. The adults stayed up till nearly midnight playing card games.
The next morning there was spaghetti and baked beans on toast for breaky. Around 10:00am the youth that were making the drama about Psalm 119 went and rehearsed for the service that would be on soon.
As Christie lead us in song we all had a blast with a song called hip hip hippopotamus. In service Christie assigned us someone we had to get to know and say a prayer for them. After everyone came back from saying their prayers we finished.
After some games of pool and some games of table tennis, each family left gradually.
I would like to thank Christie for organising this and everyone else that helped to make a fantastic weekend away, Emelia .
