Music for the worship services blends both traditional and contemporary forms. Hymns and songs for our worship are usually taken from Lutheran Hymnal with Supplement, Together in Song and the All Together song books.

Services at both congregations may be accompanied by our bands of young musicians. Instruments played include keyboard, saxophone, drums, guitar and a variety of percussion instruments. Vocals are usually provided by members of the youth.

Both congregations also appreciate organ accompaniment. At Knox this is provided by our historical pipe organ. The organ was built early in the 19th century and is included in the Victorian Heritage Register. The Knox congregation has a very dedicated organist who regualarly accompanies worship on this instrument. In addition, special organ recitals are held, giving other enthusiasts a chance to either play or listen to this historic instrument.

The Ringwood congregation has a very fine pipe organ, originally from a catholic chapel in East Melbourne. However they've found it increasingly difficult to source organists for regular worship and have had to rely heavily on 'visiting' organists. This promped them them to offer the Good Shepherd Organ Scholarship as away to promote and develop interest in pipe organ music and to train a new generation of organists who could continue the tradition of using the pipe organ for worship.
